f you’ve ever felt stiff getting out of bed…
If your back aches the day after kettlebells…
If your hips feel stuck in yoga, or you’re constantly compensating around sore knees or shoulders…

It’s not “just your age.” It’s your range of movement—and the good news is, we can improve it.

At Launch Exercise Therapy, we help women (especially 35+) rediscover confidence in their bodies by improving mobility, flexibility and posture—without pushing through pain. Here’s how that works.

Understanding the 3 Key Concepts

Stretching, range of motion (ROM), and flexibility are often used interchangeably—but they’re actually different. Let’s break them down:

✅ Range of Motion (ROM)

ROM refers to how much movement is available at a joint. For example, how easily can you raise your arm to put on a coat without wincing? That’s shoulder ROM.

Limited ROM often shows up as:

ROM is limited by the soft tissue surrounding a joint:

✅ Flexibility

Flexibility refers to how pliable or elastic that soft tissue is. Think of it like Blu-Tack—when cold, it’s stiff; when warmed up, it stretches easily.

For our clients—especially women navigating hormonal shifts—tightness is a common issue. Changes in oestrogen levels can affect soft tissue elasticity, making flexibility feel like it disappears overnight. But movement can change that.

✅ Stretching

Stretching is the practice of improving flexibility and ROM. It’s how we warm up and gently encourage tissue to elongate, increasing comfort, movement confidence, and injury resilience.

Technique Matters: How to Stretch Effectively

You might be stretching already—but is it effective?

Take the classic hamstring stretch:
If you sit on the floor with legs out and just slump forward from your shoulders, you’re likely not stretching what you think you are.

But—

…and suddenly you feel that real stretch—through the hamstrings and calves. That’s targeted and safe stretching.

How We Measure Progress

At Launch, we use the Sit and Reach Test, a reliable and repeatable method to track flexibility in the lower back and hamstrings. It gives our clients visible evidence of progress—and that’s incredibly empowering.

We combine:

…to help you build a body that moves better, not just looks better.

Why It Matters (Especially for You)

You don’t have to live with:
🚫 Lower back stiffness after every class
🚫 “Aching hips” you’ve been told are just part of menopause
🚫 Fear that moving more might make things worse

These are symptoms of tight, overworked, or underactive tissues. Our targeted approach helps you:
✔️ Increase mobility
✔️ Reduce discomfort
✔️ Improve posture and performance
✔️ Move with ease and confidence again
